THE Word of the Presidents
Here we are, the 5th edition of the Euro Mini Champs is coming up. This exceptional international competition will be for the young European elite, boys and girls born 1997 and 1998, and will gather over 300 participants from no fewer than 40 countries, along with about 150 coaches and managers. The Gymnase des Malteries will therefore play host to almost 500 people from 28 to 30 August, not counting the 120 volunteers of the organising comittee, who will be 'serving'!
In 2008, the year of the Beijing Olympics, the FFTT - French Table Tennis Federation - had invited a prestigeous delegation - the Chinese. In 2009 a selection made by the International Table Tennis federation (ITTF) will be the guest stars, with young talents coming from several continents.
The FFTT, the Alsace League and the SU Schiltigheim TT club are very proud to be part of this adventure which started in 2005 and has since been growing strong and has made all participants very happy. The event we are organising together is a huge challenge which play an important role in the improving image of table tennis.
The support of our local partners has been an important factor in the success of this European tournament and should not be underestimated. First of all the Town of Schiltigheim, and the Greater Strasbourg Council have been remarkably active and helpful, the Alsace Conseil Régional, the Bas-Rhin Conseil Général but also the State (with the Youth and Sport Regional Council), have also given the financial and other support needed by the organisers to make this a high standard event.
Many thanks to all, long live the Euro Mini Champ's!
